Use your phone from Claude or ChatGPT

You need the Opposable app on an Android phone, with Opposable turned on in Settings › Accessibility. Remote access is free for 14 days per phone, then part of Pro. Your account

Claude

Add it once, use it on the web and in the Claude app

  1. Open claude.ai in a browser (the one on your phone works). Go to Settings › Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name: Opposable. URL: https://getopposable.com/mcp. Leave the advanced settings empty. Choose Add.
  3. Choose Connect. Our page opens: sign in with your email (we send a 6-digit code) or with a pairing code from the app, pick your phone and tap Allow Claude.
  4. In a chat, open the + menu › Connectors and make sure Opposable is on. Then ask: “Use my phone to set a timer for 5 minutes”

Connectors you add on the web show up in the Claude app on iPhone and Android after you sign in there again. Custom connectors work on Free (one connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds them. Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http opposable https://getopposable.com/mcp, then /mcp to sign in.

When you chat on the same phone

Claude steps aside while the phone works, then comes back

If you ask the Claude app on your phone to use that same phone, the phone has to leave the Claude app to open the Clock, Maps or whatever the task needs. The conversation keeps running in Claude's cloud. When a task ends, Opposable brings the Claude app back to the front, so you land in the conversation with the answer. You can also say “go back to Claude”.

ChatGPT

Developer mode

  1. On chatgpt.com (web), turn on Developer mode in Settings (under Apps / Connectors, Advanced). It's available on some plans only.
  2. Add a custom MCP server: URL https://getopposable.com/mcp, authentication OAuth. Leave the client ID empty.
  3. Sign in on our page, pick your phone and tap Allow ChatGPT. Then turn the connector on in a chat.

ChatGPT asks before each action that changes something on the phone. That's expected.

Good to know

  • The phone has to be on, online, with the Opposable app running. Locked phones refuse actions until you unlock them.
  • Payments and purchases always wait for your approval on the phone. Every action goes into the phone's audit log, marked as coming from the connector.
  • Long tasks: Claude waits up to about 100 seconds per step and then keeps checking, so a task can run for several minutes.
  • Disconnect it any time under Connected computers and apps in the app, or Connected apps on your account page. Rotate token in the app cuts off every computer and app at once.
